About UNESPAR

Presentation

The Universidade Estadual do Paraná (UNESPAR) is a public institution maintained by the Government of the State of Paraná, located in the southern region of Brazil. The University consists of seven campuses in the cities of Apucarana, Campo Mourão, Curitiba, Paranaguá and União da Vitória. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses lato sensu and stricto sensu, with more than 12 thousand students, reaching 150 municipalities that, together, form an average population of 4.5 million people.

Unespar is young, but its origin goes back to centuries-old institutions, as it was born from the junction of seven state faculties: State Faculty of Education, Sciences and Languages of Paranavaí (FAFIPA), School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná (EMBAP), Faculty of Arts of Paraná (FAP), both in Curitiba, State Faculty of Sciences and Languages of Campo Mourão (FECILCAM), State Faculty of Economic Sciences of Apucarana (FECEA), State Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Languages of Paranaguá (FAFIPAR), State Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Languages of União da Vitória (FAFIUV), in addition to the Superior School of Public Security (APMG) and the University Centre of Studies and Researches about Disaster (CEPED), both academically linked to UNESPAR.

Each of them has a long trajectory, notably marking the history and culture of the municipalities where they were created and converged in favor of science, education and culture. Nowadays, they make up the seven campuses of the university, reaching most of the territory of the State of Paraná. The nature of its origin contributes to Unespar being multicultural, so that it has many colors and a number of diversified accents.

Headquartered in Paranavaí, northwest of Paraná, Unespar is one of the seven public universities in Paraná, integrated to the Superintendence of Science, Technology and Higher Education (SETI). It offers more than 60 undergraduate courses. Half of UNESPAR’s entry vacancies are reserved for the Federal Government’s Unified Selection System (Sisu), and the other half through its own selective admission processes.

It also offers postgraduate courses lato sensu (Specialization) and stricto sensu (Master’s Degree) in different areas of knowledge. The vast majority of the teaching staff is made up of masters and doctors in their respective fields, offering the best training in the university’s courses.

In addition to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Unespar offers research, extension, culture and human rights programs and projects.

UNESPAR is multicultural, it is public, it is free of charge, it is for you!
